Greens & Gravy – 1540 Ralph David Abernathy Blvd, Atlanta, GA 30310
This weekend I had the pleasure of dining at the relatively new soul food restaurant Greens & Gravy. Only positive reviews have surrounded the Southwest Atlanta gem, so it had been on my list to try for some months now.
When planning a brunch with my Line Sisters for our Founders Day (shout-out to Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. OO-OOP!), Greens & Gravy automatically came to mind.
I was surprised at how small the restaurant is. Definitely make a reservation when you decide to visit. It’s very intimate, and I liked this because the servers and cooks didn’t get overwhelmed.
I was also (pleasantly surprised) when I first looked at the menu. It was full of brunch staples with unique twists. Unexpected temptation flooded my mind! I legitimately wanted to try everything..but I decided on the Lemon Pepper Honey Fried Chicken and Mexican Avocado Toast.
The Lemon Pepper Honey Fried Chicken was fried crispy with a lemon pepper honey drizzled on top. Oh. My. Goodness. It was some of BEST fried chicken I’ve had in a long time. I can’t wait to get back for more! You have the choice of two sides, in addition to a biscuit. I chose chicken sausage and hash browns. The sides weren’t special, but weren’t bad – I’d recommend trying some of their more original sides when you visit..I know I will.
The Mexican Avocado Toast ended up coming after my chicken (minor service glitch). It was delicious, but I wish the avocado was more prevalent. It was overshadowed by the other ingredients – Elote (Mexican corn) and fried egg.
The only negative of the experience was people in our group receiving cold shrimp & grits. I had hoped some concessions would have been made to make up for their experience, but unfortunately not.
Despite this, I highly recommend trying Greens & Gravy ASAP! The food and personality of the staff out shined the minor service issues.
Service: Minor issues, but the friendliness of the staff compensated for these.
Location: The restaurant is located in South West Atlanta and doesn’t have its own parking. You have to use street parking on the side of the store front, in front of the store front or across the street. To my understanding, it all is free.
**Again, make sure your make a reservation! The space is limited, and the restaurant is fairly popular right now. You can call to arrange your reservation.
